The Ekiti State Football Association has concluded plans to stage the 2023 edition of the State FA Cup, an annual competition that was last sponsored by Hon. Femi Bamisile and tagged BAFEM Cup in 2021. The annual football fiesta will kick off in April in Ado Ekiti and will have more than 30 teams from the state and the national league compete to determine the 2023 champions. This year’s event will be in the knock out and not the usual league format.
The State FA Cup is the king of all football competitions in the Ekiti Football Ecosystem and it is used to decide the State FA Champions for the season. The competition which was last hosted in 2021 was won by Ikere United FC, Ikere Ekiti.
Registration for the 2023 edition of the Ekiti FA Cup will commence on 16th of March and the forms will be available until 26th March, 2023. The registration fee for state league teams is #30,000 while other clubs are expected to pay #50,000 only.
The State FA Cup will as usual have various individual awards to be presented to outstanding talents while the 1st , 2nd and 3rd positions will win #500,000, #300,000 and #200,000 respectively.
The Ekiti State Football Association, an affiliate of the Nigeria Football Federation is the supreme sports body that is responsible for organizing and managing football events in the state. The association uses football as a major tool for the engagement and development of youth in the state.
