The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the FIFA U20 World Cup to be hosted in Indonesia after defeating the Hippos of Uganda 1 – 0 in the second quarterfinal game played at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.
An own goal by Ibrahim Juma in the 30th minute ensured the passage of the West Africans to the semi-finals with one of the four World Cup tickets.
Nigeria’s coach, Ladan Bosso who has previously managed the age-grade side in 2007 during which he took his took to a quarterfinal finish in the tournament hosted in Canada will hope to better the feat set by the Flying Eagles in the World Youth Championship hosted by Holland in 2005 where they lost in the final by two Lionel Messi penalties.
Nigeria will play the winners of the game between The Gambia and South Sudan in the semi-final on the 6th of March at the Cairo Stadium.
