The German Football Association DFB has fired the coach of the senior national team with immediate effect.
The sack came less than 24 hours after the former European Champions lost 1 – 4 to Japan in an international friendly match played on Saturday. The defeat was the fourth in the last five match for the coach.
According to a statement from the DFB, director Rudi Völler will be the interim coach for the next friendly match against France while former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has been tipped as the favorite to replace Flick.
On 25 May 2021, the German Football Association announced that Flick signed a three-year contract from 1 August 2021 to serve as the manager of the Germany national team, and he replaced his former boss Joachim Löw after UEFA Euro 2020.
He took charge of 25 matches, lost 6 games and recorded victories in 12 matches during his spell as the national team manager
