Former World champions Japan continues its dominance over Nigeria’s Super Falcons as it handed them another defeat on Thursday in Kobe.
The game started with Super Falcons dominating the proceedings and they almost got the first goal from the free-kick through Ashleigh Plumptre who hit the bar.
The game changed in favour of the host after Nigeria’s midfielder Christy Ucheibe sustained an injury in the 39th minute and was stretched off.
Vivian Chukwuemeka replaced her but the Japanese took control of the midfield aftermath.
The host eventually broke the deadlock in the 64th minute through a set-piece from Mina Tanaka who later completed her brace in the 68th minute and secure a 2-0 victory for the Asian giant.
All the efforts of the Super Falcons to reduce the deficit proved abortive as they suffered another defeat in an international game.
