The Nigeria Premier League administrators have pinpointed Tuesday, August 29th, 2023, as a potential date for this year’s Annual General Meeting involving club stakeholders, in anticipation of the League’s resumption on September 9th.
In an official communication electronically dispatched to the 20 participating clubs in Nigeria’s premier league, Davidson Owunmi, the League’s Chief Operating Officer, has elaborated on the meeting’s objective—namely, to deliberate on effective strategies for orchestrating activities in the upcoming season.
Furthermore, it has been communicated that the fixtures for the 2023-24 Nigeria Premier League season will be unveiled during the same event in Abuja. It’s noteworthy that Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye had previously emphasized the urgency for clubs to promptly conclude documentation and player registrations to ensure a seamless transition into the new season.
With the League’s recommencement only a little over two weeks away (September 9th), clubs have a substantial window to prepare diligently and forestall potential penalties, especially clubs like Rivers United, Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Bendel Insurance, which are concurrently engaged in CAF competitions and subject to scrutiny.
This milestone will signify the inaugural AGM connecting club stakeholders with the recently inaugurated NPL Board, led by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, in the wake of the recent formation of a Technical Committee tasked with selecting the NPL Team of the Month and ultimately the Team of the Season. The chosen players will be presented with the opportunity to embark on a tour to Spain for international club friendlies alongside prominent LaLiga teams, with a specific focus on the advancement and cultivation of the next generation of CHAN Eagles.
