Nigerian soccer talent Taiwo Lawal has signed a two-year deal with Turkish Women’s League side Atasehir Belediyespor, bidding farewell to her former club, Robo Queens. She began her football journey with Aseyori Queens before gaining prominence at Robo Queens.
Lawal’s goal-scoring prowess was evident as she won the Golden Boot Award at the 2022 Betsy Obaseki Women’s Cup, scoring six goals.
Announcing her transfer on her X (formerly Twitter) account, she expressed excitement for her new career phase in Turkey, saying, “I’m thrilled to join Atasehir Belediyespor in the Turkish Super Lig.”
In 2022, Lawal was named the Most Valuable Player at the Flying Officer’s Cup preseason tournament in Abuja, contributing three goals and three assists.
Reflecting on her time at Robo Queens, Lawal expressed gratitude, stating, “I want to thank FC Robo Queens for the moments we shared and the lessons I’ve learned.”
She has represented Nigeria at the U-17 and U-20 levels, and her move to Atasehir Belediyespor marks her debut as a professional abroad, where she aims to make an impact in Turkish women’s football.
