Cameroon shot-stopper Andre Onana has been removed from his side’s squad to face Serbia in their second group game.
Onana was an absolute wall for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon throughout their qualifiers for the tournament in Qatar and continued in a similar fashion in their opening game against Switzerland.
Despite his heroics in between the sticks, it proved insignificant as Cameroon were pipped by a solitary Breel Embolo strike in the second half.
He was expected to man the post for his side’s must-win tie against Serbia, however, he has been axed from the Cameroon team.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Inter Milan goalkeeper held a tense discussion with head coach Rigobert Song, who insisted on a different style of goalkeeping, more ‘traditional’. Per the reports, Onana has no intention to change his style hence he was axed from the squad to face Serbia, GOAL explains.
