The Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, has commended the players of the team for their positive response to pre season activities.
Addressing the players and officials of the club after Wednesday’s evening training session, the 3SC boss, particularly hailed the players for emerging the winner of the just concluded maiden NPFL/Doxy Mmobuosi Super Cup Football Tournament.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Oyo State, I want to appreciate and commend you for doing the state proud by winning a competition that involved four traditional clubs in the country.
“Apart from winning the trophy, we were able to produce the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, which goes to confirm that we were the best in the tourney.
Akoro, as the chairman is fondly called, who was accommpanied by the acting General Manager of the club, Dimeji Lawal, heaped praises on coach Gbenga Ogunbote and his crew for doing a great job in transforming the Oluyole Warriors to a formidable team.
“I want to specially thank our coach (Gbenga Ogunbote), who always achieve great feat anywhere he goes and I am very optimistic, he will achieve another feat this season”, he said
The 3SC helmsman, who admitted that the good results posted by the team in the build up to the season, in particular the triumph in Lagos, has exposed the team to the rest, charged the players not to rest on their oars, but to further step up, saying that the expectations of the teeming supporters of the club is a continental ticket.
While urging the players to always take proper care of their health, Honourable Olaniyan assured them of the Management’s commitment to their welfare.
Skipper of the team, Waheed Omololu in his response, appreciated the chairman and the management for their commitment so far, promising that the team will deliver in the fast approaching season.
