An Ondo State based Sports Merchant, Johnny Sports has donated the giant trophy that will be taken home by the eventual champions of this year’s Ekiti Obas Cup as well as special plaque for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
Johnny Sports said the trophy is a special dedication to the Sports loving governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) while the MVP Award is dedicated to the wife of the governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji adding that it’s a way to also identify with the royal fathers in whose honour the competition is being held.
In the same vein, a popular Eatery in Ado Ekiti has adopted Uche Chinonso who emerged Young Best Player of Ekiti Obas Cup Season 1.
According to the Management of the Eatery, the young lad will be made its Brand Ambassador and will be financially encouraged forthwith in his training and football programs.
The Management of Portofino Eatery which gave out brand new soccer boots to the 4 Best individual players of the maiden edition of Obas Cup promised to be more involved in this year’s tournament.
Other philanthropists have also indicated preparedness to support the Under 18 Youth Soccer Championship tagged Ekiti Obas Cup Season 2 one way or the other with a view to making it bigger and more glamorous than the maiden edition.
The giant trophy for the maiden edition which was donated by Olutade Gboyega Foundation was won by Coach Ademola Agbana led Owatapa FC after beating Apeju FC on penalties at the final.
The competition is scheduled to kickoff on Saturday July 8 across various communities while the draws and screening will hold on July 5.
