Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze has said the ranking position of the team never bothered him during his playing days in the national team.
Super Eagles were ranked 40th in the World and 6th in Africa according to the latest ranking released by FIFA on Thursday.
Udeze spent 5 years with the Super Eagles appearing in one World Cup and one African Cup of Nations.
While speaking on Brila FM radio in Lagos, Udeze said what was paramount in his mind then was to do his best for the team.
“I’m not a fan of the ranking, mine is to just play football.
“Even during my playing days I never for once check the Super Eagles position in the ranking. As long I get invited and make sure I do my best to help the team win so for me I don’t care about ranking”, he said.
Udeze’s last match for the Super Eagles was the 2006 World Cup qualifier against Angola.
