Ahead of the 2022 FIFA U17 Women World Cup, the captain of the Nigeria’s Flamingoes Alvine Dah Zossu has said their target is to win the trophy.
Nigeria qualified for the tournament in an emphatic fashion scoring 15 goals without conceding any and will be joined by debutants Tanzania and Morocco.
Zossu said the qualification wasn’t an easy task for the team and they are ready for the more difficult opponents in India.
” It wasn’t easy, the journey was like the higher it goes, the tougher it became but we were able to scale through.
I believe in my team and we are the best, I knew the quality we have and when resumed camping our coach has really worked on our mistakes, I know we are going to play better in the world cup than in the qualifiers. I’m confident that we are going to scale through the group stage.
Our goal is to win the World Cup because we’ve worked hard for it”, She said.
Nigeria will face Germany in the opening group match before playing Chile and New Zealand later in the competition.
