The hope of Nigeria’s U20 Women team to secure an away win in Dar es Salam was dashed on Sunday as the host rallied back to get a draw.
Having played in the final of the World Cup twice, the Nigerian side entered the game as the favorite but the host put in everything to stop the rampaging Nigerians.
Despite dominating the game, the Falconets were unable to register a goal in the first half of the game.
But Chioma Olise gave Nigeria the lead in the 60th minute to silence the home crowd.
Asnat Umbamba scored a leveler in the 71st minute to the admiration of the home crowd.
Despite the efforts from both sides, they were unable to add to their tally as the tie ended 1-1.
Falconets will host the second leg next weekend at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja
