Deontay Wilder has won in devastating fashion after defeating his Finnish opponent Robert Helenius in a first round knockout at the Barclays Center in New York, USA.
The Bronze Bomber as he is fondly called by his fans did not waste any time because with only 11 seconds left on the clock Helenius had already hit the canvas.
The fight was Wilder’s first since he was defeated by Tyson Fury more than a year ago and this victory was the 42nd knockout of his career in just 46 fights. Wilder had contemplated retirement after the unfortunate trilogy with British boxer Tyson Fury but he decided to challenge his former sparring partner in Helenius.
Deontay Wilder came in at 109.5kg during the weigh-in and was was 10kg lighter than his last fight with Fury last year October.
This victory is expected to kick start his comeback in the heavyweight division and he has his eyes set for potential fight with Mexican Andy Ruiz Jr and a mouth-watering clash with Anthony Joshua.
