The season went from bad to worse when Liverpool were thrashed by Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium.
It was evident that the Reds were the weaker side from the start of the match. The early pressure mounted by the Wolves team paid off when Joël Matip diverted a cutback into his own net as early as the 5th minute. Craig Dawson doubled the lead for the hosts after rifling his effort into the roof of the net. The wave of attack from the home team was relentless and they could have been three goals up within twenty minutes but Alisson kept the scoreline deficit to two goals as both sides went into halftime.
Resuming from the halftime break, the lack of coordination was apparent in the style of play Liverpool exhibited. RúbenNeves scored the winning goal in the 71st minute to condemn Liverpool to their seventh loss in the league sees them drop to 10th while Wolves rose to 15th.
