Despite crashing out at the round of 16, Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been ranked the best African team in the just concluded 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup that was co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The Nigerian team played their group games without defeat and even defeated one of the hosts Australia in the second group game.
They lost to England in the round of 16 via a penalty shoot-out in a game they gave a good account of themselves.
The World football body on Monday released the ranking of all the teams that took part in the tournament.
Super Falcons were ranked in the 10th position as Spain who won the trophy was ranked in the top position.
