West Ham had to come from behind to beat Danish side Silkeborg IF to make it two wins out of two in Group B of the Europa Conference League.
The Hammers started brightly but the hosts put their noses in front in the fifth minute with a Kasper Kusk goal. However, the Londoners kept pressing and eight minutes later, got their reward after Maxwel Cornet was brought down in the box and Manuel Lanzini stepped up to convert the penalty to level the scores.
Gianluca Scamacca and Craig Dawson added two more goals to put West Ham 3-1 up before the break.
The home side refused to drop their shoulders after the break. Their efforts finally paid off when Soren Tengstedt pulled a goal back to make it 3-2.
But David Moyes’ boys held on to their lead. A result which means West Ham remain top of Group B with six maximum points from two matches.
FCSB of Romania and Anderlecht of Belgium settled for a goalless affair in the group’s other fixture.
The English side will now travel to Belgium to face Anderlecht who are fourth on the table while Silkeborg hosts FCSB on 6 October, 2022 in the next round of matches.
