Manchester United’s forward Marcus Rashford and Napoli’s forward Victor Osimhen are two of the most-in-form forwards in Europe. To determine who is the more in-form player, I will be using their statistics post the World cup break.
Let me start with Rashford. The English forward has played 16 games post the World cup break and he has only failed to score or assist in two of those games. One was Man United’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League and the other was the 3-0 over Reading in the fourth round of the Fa cup.
The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals, more than any other player in the top 5 leagues in Europe. He has also assisted 5 goals since the resumption of club football in December. This means he is averaging a goal or an assist per game.
As regards Osimhen, the Serie A top scorer has featured for Napoli 9 times in all competitions since the resumption of hostilities in Italy. He has netted 9 goals and assisted one, he has only failed to score or assist in two games, one was a league game against Inter Milan at the San Siro while the other was against Cremonese in the Italian cup/Coppa Italia.
With the Nigerian International scoring 9 goals and an assist in 9 games, he is averaging a goal or assist per game just like Rashford.
From the foregoing, we can see that there is nothing to separate these two fantastic players at the moment. While you can argue that Rashford has more assists than Osimhen, it could also be argued that Napoli’s striker has more goals per game than the English international.
Therefore, if there was an award for the most in-form player in Europe at the moment, it should be shared between both of them.
