Barely 4 months to the start of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast is set to lose the hosting right.
The preparation has been top gear in the Ivorian land but the recent developments in the country during the International match between Mali and Ivory Coast left the African soccer ruling body skeptical about their readiness.
The game which was played at the Stade Alassane Ouattara in Ebimpé, the outskirts of Abidjan was halted because of heavy rain which made the pitch completely flooded and therefore impassable.
This led CAF to consider alternatives and Algeria is being contacted to be on alert to take over the hosting right.
Algeria is considered to be ready to stage the competition with its ultra-modern stadia and quality infrastructure that could be used to host a major competition.
