Ahead of the 2023 U17 African Cup of Nations in Algeria, the head coach of South Africa Amajimbos Crowie Duncan has named 3 foreign-based players in his final list of players released on Tuesday afternoon.
South Africa is grouped in group B of the competition alongside Zambia, Morocco, and Nigeria.
The three selected overseas-based players are players Kyle Jansen from Atlanta United [USA], Waylon Renecke of Norwich City [England], and Vitesse’s Michael Dokumnu [Holland].
Crowie trimmed the 30-member preliminary squad to 21 players for the AFCON tournament.
The tournament will take place in Algeria from 29 April to 19 May 2023.
The Semifinalists from the tournament in Algeria will represent the continent in the FIFA U17 World Cup slated to hold later in the year.
