It was a weekend to forget for the Senegalese champions As Douanes as they failed their title.
Douanes entered Coupe Saint-Michel this season as a defending champion but crashed out of the competition after a 58-53 defeat to ASCVD.
Both teams put up a tough battle and put on a crowd-pleasing spectacle and at half-time, the city of Dakar leads with a score of 27 to 24.
AS Douanes took the initiative, which bore fruit as Mamadou Gueye’s team quickly found itself in the lead with a score of 35 to 27.
However, Libasse Faye’s players continued to push to close the gap, led by an excellent Thierno Niang who shone in the second half. Finally, ASCVD won (58-53) and qualified for the final, just like the previous season.
Douanes will face Rivers Hiopers, APR, and US Monastir at the Sahara Conference of the 2024 African Basketball League.
