FC Barcelona have extended their lead on the La Liga table with 8 points after defeating Real Betis at the Estadio de la Cerámica 2 – 1.
Goals off the boots of Raphina and Robert Lewandowski gave the visitors all 3 points on the night and making their closest challenger play catch-up.
FC Barcelona were overwhelming favourites going into the fixture but the the Manuel Pellegrini tutored side kept a good defensive shape during which eventual goal-scorer Raphinahad two offside attempts at goal. The breakthrough came when Alejandro Balde put in a low cross into the Betis box and Raphina was available for a tap in the 65th minute. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored the ten minutes from regulation time after combining with Pedri after a corner kick. Real Betis had a consolation goal to their name when Jules Koundé chested the ball into his net after scoffing a clearance.
FC Barcelona’s next game will be a tricky tie when they host Sevilla on the 5th of February.
