Jude Bellingham has been suspended for the next two games by La Liga after Valencia-Real Madrid game.
The reason for Jude Bellingham’s 2 match suspension is “Attitudes of contempt or inconsideration towards referees, managers or sports authorities.”.
Jude Bellingham could play as few as three games in the next six weeks for Real Madrid after he received a two-game ban for dissent.
The punishment rules him out of this week’s home game with Celta Vigo and next week’s trip to Osasuna.
There then follows an international break with Madrid back in action on March 31 against Athletic Bilbao which ought to mark his return.
The following weekend there is another blank weekend for Real Madrid because league fixtures are cancelled for the Spanish Cup final.
And although Madrid ought to be in action the following midweek if they beat RB Leipzig on Wednesday night, if Bellingham is booked in this evening’s game he will also miss that Champions League quarter-final first leg through accumulation of cautions. He will then be available on April 14 for a trip to Mallorca.
Bellingham was sent off at the end of Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday because he protested to referee Jesus Gil Manzano after the official ruled out what would have been the winning goal in the game scored by the England midfielder.
Gil blew his whistle not much more than a second after Brahim Diaz crossed from the right and Belligham headed in.
In his report the referee said that Bellingham had been ‘aggressive and shouting’.
Carlo Ancelotti defended his player after the game saying he had not insulted the match official just said: ‘It’s a f*cking goal’.
The Spanish Football Federation did not accept Madrid’s appeal against the red but did give Bellingham the minimum length of ban for the infraction.
The plus side for Gareth Southgate is that he will be rested to play against Belgium and Brazil at Wembley on the 23rd and 26th of March, having missed out on England duty during the last break because of injury.
