Bayern Leverkusen have confirmed the appointment of former Spanish footballer, Xabi Alonso as their new coach.
Xabi’s new role came into play when Gerardo Seoane was sacked by the club’s management after the run of poor results.
Xabi will take over at Leverkusen which are currently second from bottom on the Bundesliga table with just one win so far in the eight-week old league. Their last league game ended in a 4 nil loss away to league champions Bayern Munich and they also lost 2 nil to FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League.
Xabi is expected to be in the dugout later this weekend for Leverkusen when they host Schalke 04 later this weekend.
