The Nigeria Professional Football League runners-up Plateau United has set the stage for the
battle against former African champions Esperance of Tunisia.
The Nigeria side on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja defeated the Gabonese side Stande Manji 1-0 to progress to the next round of the competition 3-2 on the aggregate scoreline.
After a scoreless first half, Haggai Katoh netted the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute and handed Plateau United a vital victory.
The away side proved hard but cracked right from the blast of the whistle and they were able to take the game to Nigeria’s representative.
The away draw and goal secured by Plateau United last weekend in Franceville gave them confidence as they were able to nullify all the attacking threat of the Gabonese team.
