African soccer governing body has concluded the arrangement to move its headquarters away from Cairo but will remain in Egypt.
CAF will have a new look, Indeed, the governing body of African football will build a new headquarters, as indicated in the press release from the Egyptian Ministry of Sports.
“The said new capital will thus house a building on 8 hectares of land in the northern part of the R3 zone.
The move of CAF headquarters to the new administrative capital confirms Egypt’s status as the Mecca of Africa and the world, demonstrating its progress in sports infrastructure,” the statement added.
“My wish has always been to keep the CAF headquarters in Egypt, and it must stay in Egypt. The construction of a new CAF headquarters east of Cairo demonstrates the Confederation’s gratitude to the administrative capital,” CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
Egypt has hosted the headquarters of CAF since its creation in 1957.
Recently, an agreement was concluded between the country and the body, extending the confederation’s lease for ten additional years.
