In a shocking development, Chelsea is reportedly very close to appointing one of their club legend and former Head coach Frank Lampard, as their interim head coach until the end of the season.
It is a move that has surprised many fans of the team, who have been calling for a change after a series of poor performances under Graham Potter who has been sacked just a few days ago.
Lampard, is currently a free agent after being sacked by Everton this season, and has been linked with a return to his former club.
According to reports, the club is currently ironing out the details of the agreement with Lampard, who was seen at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening during Chelsea’s draw with Liverpool.
This would mark a return for Lampard to the club, having previously managed them from 2019 to 2021, before being replaced by Thomas Tuchel. The search for a more permanent head coach to succeed Graham Potter continues.
Ultimately, the decision on the new coach will be made by co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Ehgbali.
