A second half volley by former Brighton & Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay was enough to secure Everton their first Premier League win of the season in seven matches.
Having lost to Chelsea and Aston Villa in their first two games, and four consecutive draws to Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Leeds United and local rivals Liverpool, Frank Lampard guided the Toffees to a 1-0 win against the Hammers, a side they have not beaten in the last two league games.
After a frustrating first half at the Goodison Park, Maupay eventually opened his Everton account with a volley which caught Lukasz Fabianski by surprise to move Everton up to 13th.
The Toffees also keep their second consecutive clean sheets in over a year.
Though the Hammers won away against Silkeborg in Denmark to keep their 100 % winning records in Europe but it was a different story in the league and are now in the relegation zone (18th).
