The Gloden ball award is given to the best player under the age of 21 over a calendar year.

A select number of top journalists are tasked with voting for the winner.

Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi are among the players that have won the award before.

Among the names in contention to win the prestigious prize in 2022 include Gavi, Pedri, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Jamal Musiala.
