YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul, 25, extended his unbeaten record to six professional fights by winning a unanimous decision against UFC legend Silva after eight hard-fought rounds on Saturday night.
The win was arguably Paul’s best performance since making his professional debut two and a half years ago as the judges in Arizona scored the bout 77-74, 78-73, and 78-73 in his favor after the final bell.
The win meant White was forced to eat his words, as last year, the UFC boss predicted that Paul wouldn’t fight Silva. “I f****ng guarantee you this, you ain’t gonna see Jake Paul calling Anderson Silva out,” White said. “That I f****ng promise you.
He’s Jake’s size, and he’s good. But he is old, which Jake likes, to fight old guys who are too small and positively washed up.”
Reflecting on White’s comments after his recent win, Paul mocked the UFC boss by stating: “Dana? Dana? Dana? You said I wouldn’t do this, and I did it with flying colors. He’s in hiding. He’s trying to do everything he can to stop my run, to sabotage my fights. He hates me. He hates what I’m doing.
He hates that I’m exposing his business, and now we’re going to band together and create a united fighters’ association to help UFC fighters, all MMA fighters, and boxers to get more fighter pay and long-term health care.”
