FC Barcelona romped to their tenth consecutive Laliga win over Elche with Robert Lewandowski’s double and a goal from Memphis Depay to temporarily go top of the table until the two Madrid giants go head-to-head in the first Madrid derby of the season on Sunday.
After captain Gonzalo Verdu was sent off in the 14th minute, Barca became more dominant and eventually broke the visitors’ resistance just a little over the half-hour mark when Alejandro Balde’s cross was converted by Robert Lewandowski in the 34th minutes with a tap-in.
Memphis Depay doubled the lead after Dutchman turned away from his marker to fire into the roof of the net with a spectacular finish.
Lewandowski’s got his second goal of the day, his eighth goals in six league games on a platter.
