Boston Celtics has confirmed the suspension of coach, Ime Udoka for the 2022-23 season, the team announced on Thursday.
According to reports Boston Celtics made reference to violations of team policies in its release, recall sources previously reported that Udoka had an intimate relationship with a female member of the franchise’s staff. Ime Udoka suspension is effective immediately, and a conclusion about Udoka’s future with the organization will be made know later on.
The Ex assistant coach at Brooklyn Nets joined Celtics last summer having spent time with San Antonio spurs, Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant coach as well. He replaced Brad Stevens as coach.
Ime Udoka oversaw a remarkable outing in Boston, has the team displayed an impressive run through the Eastern Conference playoffs, progressing to the NBA Finals for the first time in 12 years.
The Ex Nigerian international, Udoka also became the fifth coach in the past 25 years to reach the NBA Finals in his first season as a head coach and the first since Nick Nurse in 2019.
