The 10th edition of the prestigious Pre-season tournament known as Ogunjobi Gold Cup began today across two centres respectively.
Amongst the four games played, three victories and a stalemate with a total of nine goals were recorded.
Meanwhile, a 11 minute hattrick was also produced on the first day.
HIGHEST GOAL SCORING GAME
The game between Ibadan-based Shooting Stars against Nationwide League one side Beyond Limit produced a total of five goals and an hattrick at the Ikenne stadium.
Shooting Stars, who had conceded in the 30th minute from Ebenezer Akinsanmiro’s strike, came back in the second half with four goals.
Isaac Afolabi set the motion running for the Oluyole Warriors in the 50th minute before Joshua Akpan scored the first hattrick of the competition in 11 minutes.
The forward scored in the 52nd, 60th and 63rd minute respectively.
SLIM VICTORIES
The duo of Niger Tornadoes and Sporting Lagos recorded slim victories against their opponents.
It took Niger Tornadoes 50 minutes to break the deadlock from Hamza Mohammed in what was used to nick maximum points against NNL side, Gateway United.
In a similar event, Sanni Emmanuel’s 72nd strike earned Sporting Lagos maximum points against FC Ebedei.
DRAW
What can be recorded as the biggest game of the day ended in a stalemate between Continental debutant Remo Stars and Sunshine Stars.
Remo Stars, who just ended its Continental assignment abruptly on Sunday needed a last minute penalty to level against Sunshine Stars at Ikenne.
Both teams ended the game with 10 men after the duo of Andy Okpe and Mutiu Dada were sent off as a result of dissent in the 18th minute.
After a barren draw in the first half, both sides scored against each other in the second half.
Sunshine Stars drew the first blood from a spotkick by Vincent Temitope after a discovered handball from Remo Stars’ player in the 73nd minute.
However, Remo Stars salvaged the lead following Nduka Junior’s spotkick in the 90th minute.
