The 15-point penalty on Juventus has been suspended as a new trial is set in the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal for their punishment.
It should be recalled that Juventus were hit with the massive 15-point penalty in January for false accounting while several members of its former board were also handed bans from soccer activities, including former president Andrea Agnelli.
However, after a three-hour hearing in court on Wednesday, the case has now been referred back to the soccer federation’s appeals court and as a result Juventus has been handed back the points pending the new trial.
In effect of the suspended 15-point deduction, the Bianconeri has now moved from seventh to third in the league, two points behind second-place Lazio and three ahead of fourth-place Roma in a tight battle for the Champions League qualifying places.
Juventus denied the wrongdoing and appealed to Italy’s highest sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee, known as CONI.
The CONI prosecutor Ugo Taucer admitted that the initial 15-point deduction âhas a lack of clarity in the motivation that must be appreciated and evaluated by a new judgmentâ, especially given the FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe ChinĂš only asked for nine points in January.
Several of the initial suspensions are still going to hold including for Ex Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and Tottenham director Fabio Paratici as there appeals were rejected.
But Former Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved and other lesser-known former board of directors members saw their bans cleared.
