The male U23 national team of Nigeria forced their hosts in Tanzania to a 1-all draw at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam in an U23 African Cup of Nations qualifying match played today.
Nigeria started the brighter of the sides and their pressure paid off when a penalty was awarded against the hosts and Success Makanjuola was able to convert from the spot in the 28th minute as both teams went into the halftime break with Nigeria leading with the solitary goal. The hosts were able to restore parity with twelve minutes left in regulation time when they converted a penalty of theirs by Ally Msengi.
The return leg of the qualifier will be played in Ibadan at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex on the 29th of October with the winner qualifying for the next round of qualifiers.
