“Today marks the beginning of good things to come in the affairs of the female youth and other youth in the state. The development of female soccer. We are here to announce the approval for the establishment of Female soccer in the state and we are seizing this opportunity to appreciate the magnanimity of His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde fnse led administration for giving us the grace to set the machineries in motion for its take off, in order to give the female youth equal leverage among their male counterparts in the state and particularly create a platform to build their capacity for economic emancipation. The flag-off ceremony though, would be announced later.
The establishment of Female Football Club in the state is another milestone in the annals of the present Government and we are happy that we are part of the success story.”
She further said “. Prior to this time, before it went to oblivion, female football clubs existed in the state in a private capacity thereby limiting its opportunities among the female youth and its lifespan in the state.
This administration has on several occasions assured the state of its commitment to irrevocably ensure that the fortunes of the state and its citizens experience positive change, especially in relation to those activities which directly affect the social and economic life of the people of this state. It has thus far achieved the unprecedented remodeling of the Lekan Salami stadium to an enviable standard to open up opportunities for our people to enhance their value for economic emancipation.
Hence, the establishment of female soccer in the state which is long overdue is another record-breaking achievement in this administration. We, therefore call on all football-inclined female youth to take the moment and avail themselves of this opportunity to dust their boot and make themselves available for the life-transforming venture that has come on a platter of gold to their doorstep”
The new female club is expected to get a slot in the second tier of the NWFL next season with the hope of getting an instant promotion to the top flight.
