I will go straight to the point here.
Tell me a manager who would like to work with Ronaldo after coming out to criticise Erik Ten Haag.
Ronaldo has done nothing to merit a place in the starting XI for the club and Erik Ten Haag has one job which is to win games and not appease the ego of a player who is on the decline.
Ronaldo has started most games for Manchester United this season from the bench, particularly in the Premier League. He has featured 10 times and he has found the back of the net ONCE. Ronaldo has the same number of Premier League goals as 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho who has featured 3 times in the Premier League this season.
Since serving his punishment after refusing to come on as a substitute in the Spurs’ game, Ronaldo has featured in 4 of the last 6 games for Manchester United, missing two because of his ill health and he was given the Captain armband in the last game he featured. So much for being disrespectful towards him.
This explains the reason why Thomas Tuchel, former Chelsea manager, not sanctioning the move for Ronaldo to Chelsea in the summer.
When you have Ronaldo in your team, the media attention will always be on you whether by the doing of the manager or Ronaldo himself.
He has impliedly ended his relationship with Manchester United because there is no way Erik Ten Haag gives him a chance of featuring once again for United after shading him publicly.
You take a look at Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Napoli, PSG and other top clubs in Europe at the moment, none needs a Ronaldo at the moment.
There is a reason why Chelsea was the only big club in Europe that showed genuine interest in Ronaldo in the summer. The fact that he is ageing, misfiring in front of goal, has a huge wage bill and always craves media attention is enough red flag for any club that might have been interested in him.
He either calls it quits after the World cup in Qatar or retires to play for a team in Portugal.
