In Sunday’s early kick-off, the Bees welcome Arsenal to Gtech Community Stadium where they have not lost this season in the league.
Having been brought down to earth by Marcus Rashford’s brace and a debut goal for Anthon to surrender their 5 games winning streak at Old Trafford, Arsenal will now be aiming for three points at a venue where their conquerors, United lost scandalously by 4-0.
Arsenal’s league fixture against a struggling Everton, which was put on hold due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II would have been a perfect opportunity to get their season going again. But now they are up against a Brentford side that put 5 goals past Leeds United with Ivan Toney scoring a hatrick to earn a call-up to the English National Team.
When these two sides met last season on this same ground, Brentford won 2-0 to hand Arsenal their first league defeat of the season.
However this is a much improved Arsenal squad with the addition of Gabriel Jesus who has scored three league goals and some individual performances from Bukayo Saka, Martin Oedegaard, William Saliba couple with the return of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey after missing out of the clash at Old Trafford.
A win for Thomas Frank’s side will take them above Manchester United who sit in fifth position and will not be in action again until 2 October when they visit Etihad Stadium in a Manchester Derby.
While an away victory for the Gunners will cement their top position on the table ahead of Manchester City who are still bookmakers’ favorite for the title.
