It’s no news that Phoenix Suns owner Rob Sarver was suspended by the NBA after an investigation revealed allegations that he created a racist and misogynistic work environment.
In an investigation carried out by USA law firm white-shoe law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York, examine his 18-year tenure at the helm of both franchises.
The National Basketball Association in a 36-page report uncovered a documented long list of transgressions by Sarver.
According to the report, Sarver repeated the N-word on at least five occasions when recounting the statements of others. He also disrespected female workers by making numerous sex-related comments at workplace. He also makes inappropriate comments about their physical appearance. Sarver mistreated employees by yelling and cursing at them.
The investigation spoke about a hostile workplace, headed by Sarver, who would disgrace employees and make them feel so uncomfortable with attitude that ranged from what the investigation called “sophomoric” to discriminatory. It was also revealed that the fault did not lie with Sarver alone; the investigation found that the Suns organization was a “difficult place for women to work, particularly if they have young children” and that executives occasionally treated women differently there than men.
It was stated in the report that “Sarver believed workplace norms did not apply to him and viewed common conventions as to what language he should use and what conduct he should avoid as a form of challenge,” the report found.
