Head coach of the Nigeria senior women’s national team Randy Waldrum has praised the attitude of his players after recording an emphatic victory over the 2023 FIFA WWC co-host New Zealand on Tuesday in Turkey
Goals from captain Onome Ebi, Jennifer Echegini and Desire Oparanozie ensured the nine-time African Champions ended their training camp in Turkey with two victories in the two matches played .
While fielding questions from the team’s media officer shortly after the game, the American coach said he was pleased with the performance and admitted there is a lot of work to be done before the World Cup starts.
“I think I will rate the team with a B but we got three goals and a clean sheet, so I guess maybe I am a little harsh with the grade. We still have a lot of things to improve on and so better and I think we will get there. The good thing is that we’ve gotten better and better in out last two games, we will be ready for the world cup”
The Super Falcons are on a three-game winning streak after defeating Costa Rica, Haiti and New Zealand, a performance that has eased the pressure on the team before the start of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and and New Zealand
Nigeria will compete in the group B alongside Rep of Ireland, Canada and co-host Australia
