Pep Guardiola claims a new signing is on the way. Sergio Gomez will remain with Manchester City’s first-team squad this season and compete for the left-back position.
On Thursday, City agreed a £11 million (€13 million) fee with Anderlecht to sign Gomez, with the 21-year-old expected to undergo a medical and complete the transfer within the next 24-48 hours.
Gomez was expected to be loaned out after the transfer was completed, but City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed he will remain in Manchester this season.
“This one target is a young player; in the youth World Cup a few years ago, the best player was Phil Foden, and he finished second.
“He played in Spain U21, was a young talent for Barcelona, went to Borussia Dortmund, and played in good hands under Borussia Dortmund’s coach.
