Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that he has never had any disagreements with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, amid reports of the pair reuniting.
Tuchel and Aubameyang previously worked together at Borussia Dortmund, and the striker has been linked with Chelsea after losing the Arsenal captaincy under Mikel Arteta due to bad behavior, including poor time-keeping.
Tuchel did not confirm or deny the rumors, but did say on Friday, ‘I enjoyed working with him a lot.’ It was an honor.’ This has nothing to do with the current situation, but some players remain your players because you were so close. We had a very close friendship.’ I don’t keep up with the Auba news. I don’t care if he has good or bad press; I couldn’t care less.
When asked directly if he wants to sign Aubameyang, Tuchel replied, ‘It’s a nice try, but we don’t talk about players’ futures.’ The future can be found in the next training session.’
Tuchel made fun of Antonio Conte’s previous statement that there was a huge gap between his team and Chelsea’s against Sunday’s opponents Tottenham.
Tuchel stated, ‘I never felt a huge gap in preparing these matches.’ ‘I don’t trust everything Antonio Conte says!’ Every team he coaches competes in every sport. They may have had the opposite last seven months as us. It’s one of the toughest opponents – that’s always the case with Antonio Conte’s teams, and that’s exactly what we’re up against.’
