Skipper of Nigeria’s Super Falcons Onome Ebi has revealed that other players in the team used to call her ‘Mama Onome’ due to their cordial relationship.
The lanky defender is attending this year’s World Cup as the oldest women player to ever played in 6 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Her first appearance was in 2003 and since then she hasn’t missed any of the tournament.
While speaking on Brila FM Radio, Ebi said the players have enormous respect for her and that has made the team more solid.
” I’m enjoying working with them, they gave me the nickname Mama Onome because I’m like the mother of the team.
I feel good with the players, though I don’t talk much outside but with the team, I’m a different character.
“I don’t know where the strength comes from but I do have the respect of everyone and I respect them in return”, she told Brila FM.
