It is no longer news that Gift Orban scored 4 goals (haul) in Gent’s emphatic 6-2 win over Zulte Waregem in the Belgian Pro League. While scoring 4 goals is an incredible achievement in itself, there is one more interesting fact about Orban’s heroics.
Another incredible fact is that the 20-year-old scored 4 goals from 5 shots on target. This is an unbelievable degree of finishing. Unusually, a player scores from 80% of his shots on target. The second goal which was a stunning free-kick which evidences how unbelievable Orban was in front of goal in that encounter.
More often than not, strikers often misplace most of their shots or play a weak shot that is incapable of beating the goalkeeper. If strikers were to score from most of their shots, we would be recording more 7-0, and 10-0 victories.
Orban is proving to be a menace in front of goal, he has had 10 goals since he made his debut for Gent, which is the most of any player in Europe. If Orban can keep up with his effectiveness in front of goal, he is going to be a world-class striker.
