Ahead of the January winter transfer window, English Premier League club Aston Villa has focused on getting the services of Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Nigerian International is on the final lap of his contract with the English Championship side Leicester City and Villa considers him as a good competitor to Ollie Watkins.
“Aston Villa are interested in signing Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the January transfer window,” the website wrote.
“The Midlands club are keen to provide some depth behind Ollie Watkins in the centre-forward role, as they compete on multiple fronts in 2024.
“As things stand, Iheanacho’s contract with Leicester is due to expire at the end of this season.
“That of course, means that the January transfer window could be the Foxes’ last chance to receive a fee for the striker, amid that interest from Aston Villa.”
Iheanacho has made 20 appearances this season, scoring 6 goals and 2 assists.
