It was an interesting qualifying session at the end Circuit of The Americas, venue of this season’s United States Grand Prix when Ferrari for the umpteenth time had an impressive outing on the track.
Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz took pole ahead of the main race on Sunday in Texas but it was his team mate, Charles Leclerc who finished overall fastest but due to a grip place penalty(because of changing too much engine parts), Leclerc will be starting 12th on the grid while 2nd placed Sainz in qualifying stepped into the pole-position. 2022 champion, Max Verstappen was able to secure a 2nd place position on the starting grid and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton completing the front row.

While the drivers’ championship has been wrapped up by Max Verstappen, the battle for second position is up for grabs. This how the battle for second place looks like after the Japanese GP:
Carlos Sainz: 202 points (Ferrari)
George Russell: 207 points (Mercedes)
Charles Leclerc: 252 points (Ferrari)
Sergio Pérez: 253 points ( Redbull)
Sergio Pérez, will be hoping to consolidate his grip on second place because that will help Redbull in winning the constructors championship for the first time since the 2013 season.
