Jamal Musiala, Pablo Martin Paez Gavira popularly called Gavi and Pedro Gonzalez Lopez who is also known as Pedri are three of the best youngsters in the world.
This has led to a debate on who the best player is between the trio, particularly between Barcelona fans and others.
I wouldn’t be delving into who the best player is among these fantastic young players but I would like to draw our attention to a significant point which might end this debate very soon.
The reason why this debate might die a natural death is that Jamal Musiala is in a better position to win individual laurels in the future than Gavi and Pedri. Here is why.
Musiala plays further up the pitch where he will score a lot of goals and record more assists than Pedri and Gavi.
This season, Musiala has 9 goals and 8 assists in the Bundesliga and Champions League which is more than Pedri (3 goals and 0 assists) and Gavi ( 0 goals and 1assist) combined.
The reason why Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are regarded as two of the greatest players ever is because of their impact in the final third with the litany of goals they have scored in their respective careers.
One of the reasons why players like Ronaldinho and Zinedine Zidane are not in the conversation of the greatest players of all time is that they didn’t score as much as Messi and Ronaldo have.
Pedri and Gavi might have won the Golden ball award without scoring much, but the Balon D’or is different.
Yes, Modric won the Balon D’or without scoring a dozen of goals but we all know his case was an extremely special circumstance.
This is not to say Musiala will win the Balon D’or but to point out the fact that if the career of these three players continues this way, the German wonder kid would be in a better place than the Spanish wonder kids to win individual awards in the future and would end any debate regarding him and Gavi-Pedri.
Unless Pedri and Gavi start scoring multiple goals and recording assists, Musiala will stand a better chance to win individual accolades in the future.
It is what it is!
