The head coach of the Nigeria Premier Football League side Shooting Stars Gbenga Ogunbote has tendered an unreserved apology to the fans and supporters of the club for missing out on the Playoffs.
Former Rangers International coach made the statement on Sunday after their final game against Enyimba FC.
Many believe that Shooting Stars has what it takes to secure a Super Six spot but missed out narrowly after they finished out the top 3 in group A.
“The first thing is to apologise to the supporters because much was expected from us.
“
We seem to have it, but unfortunately, when the season started, we couldn’t replicate what we had in the pre season, due to some challenges in form of distractions, which did not allow the team to perform the way we expected.
On behalf of the team, I want to apologise for that and I want to thank the Almighty God, that despite the fact that we were unable to realise our dreams.
we were not struggling, four game to the end of the season, we had already avoided the drop, which was a plus for the team. It can always get better”, he said.
