Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have to rally from behind to secure a 2-1 win over the Dominican Republic in the opening group match of the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
It was the Oceanic country that netted the opening goal from the spot in the 22 minutes despite Nigeria dominating the proceedings.
The 2-time first runners up were able to bounce back in the 31st minute of the game through an own from the Dominican Republic defender De Pena.
The Nigerian side continue their press in the second half and their effort finally paid off in the 70th minute with a goal from Samson Lawali.
Flying Eagles pressed more to get the third goal but the Dominican Republic stood their ground to keep the result at a respectable 2-1.
