An injury-time equaliser from Casemiro earned Manchester United a point at Chelsea on Saturday in the Premier League battle for fourth place.
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho calmly slotted home from the penalty spot in 85 minutes, but Casemiro arrived at the right time to score his first United goal and earn a share of the points at Stamford Bridge.
United was much the better side in the first half and heaped pressure on Chelsea, but they proved toothless as home goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga performed well to keep the sides level.
Chelsea grew into the game in the second half and created some decent chances, but it wasn’t enough to break De Gea’s defence until the 87th minute when Armando Broja was brought down in the 18-yard box.
The Manchester side and France’s World Cup squad will be concerned for Raphael Varane, who went over on his ankle midway through the second half and limped away looking distraught.
The visitors were without Ronaldo, who was dropped by manager Erik ten Hag for Saturday’s fixture as punishment for refusing to play as a substitute against Tottenham on Wednesday.
