Olayinka Olaide has delivered Nigeria’s first medal in athletics at the African Games in Accra, winning Bronze in the women’s 100m in a time of 11.55s in her first senior international outing for the country.
Gina Bass claimed the gold medal clocking 11.36s while Maria McCoy won the silver medal with a time of 11.49s.
In the men’s 100m final, Usheoritse Itsekiri finished second to win the Silver medal for Nigeria.
He ran an astonishing race, coming through in a time of 10.23s while another Nigerian athlete Consider Ekanem finished 4th in 10.42s.
Emmanuel Eseme emerged as Champion in 10.14s, while Gilbert Hainuca got Bronze in 10.29s.
